West Carrollton lies on the west bank of the Great Miami River south of Dayton, between Moraine and Miamisburg, with I-75 running along its eastern edge. Confluence Heating & Air repairs and installs furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps for West Carrollton homes.

West Carrollton's housing is dominated by one decade. The 2020-2024 American Community Survey shows about 36 percent of the city's roughly 6,200 housing units built in the 1970s and another 21 percent in the 1960s, with 17 percent from the 1980s and a median year built around 1973. About 9 percent predate 1940, mostly the older frame houses on the streets nearest the river and the original town center along Central Avenue. Very little has been built since 2000.
The 1970s houses are the core of the work: ranches, split-levels and bi-levels on basements or slabs, many built all-electric or with an 80 percent gas furnace and a retrofitted or original air conditioner. About 60 percent of occupied homes heat with utility gas and about 38 percent with electricity, one of the higher electric shares in the southern suburbs.
Split-level and bi-level houses are common in West Carrollton's 1970s neighborhoods, and they are the hardest common house type to heat and cool evenly. A furnace in the lower level pushes air up two or three half-flights through ducts that were sized for a single-story load, the upper bedrooms are the last to get air, and a single thermostat on the middle level satisfies before either end of the house does. The fixes are a two-stage or variable-speed system for longer run times, duct corrections where they are accessible, zoning dampers, or a ductless head for the upper level. Which one is right depends on how the ducts were run, and the estimate visit traces them.
For the all-electric 1970s houses, the choice on replacement is a cold-climate heat pump or a gas conversion where gas is available at the street. Both are compared at the estimate with a load calculation and current rates.
Houses near the river have basements that stay damp, and furnaces in them show corrosion earlier than those in the drier neighborhoods up the grade toward Alex-Bell Road. Condensing furnaces in those basements need a solid condensate path, often with a pump. Repairs everywhere in West Carrollton start with measurements, and gas furnace visits include a heat exchanger and combustion check.
Replacement estimates are free and include a load calculation, with furnace, AC, heat pump and dual-fuel options in writing. Permits are pulled through the building office with jurisdiction and included in the quote where required. Call the local line or send the form to set up a visit.
