Miamisburg is a Great Miami River town about ten miles southwest of Dayton, with a nineteenth-century downtown along the water, the prehistoric Miamisburg Mound above it, and newer neighborhoods spreading east toward I-75 and Austin Landing. Confluence Heating & Air repairs and installs furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps across Miamisburg.

Miamisburg's housing splits cleanly by geography. Downtown and the blocks climbing the hill from the river are old: about 15 percent of the city's roughly 7,900 housing units were built before 1940, per the 2020-2024 American Community Survey. East of the old town the eras spread out evenly, with about 13 percent from the 1950s, 15 percent from the 1970s, 15 percent from the 1980s and 17 percent from the 2000s. The median year built is about 1976.
The old riverfront houses are brick and frame on stone or block foundations, with basements that sit close to the river's water table. Furnaces in those basements live in damp air, and corrosion on cabinets, burner assemblies and inducer housings is the recurring theme. Condensing furnaces need a reliable condensate path in these basements, and a pump is often part of the installation.
The federal Mound Laboratory operated on the hill south of downtown for decades, and the 1950s and 1960s housing on that side of Miamisburg was built for the people who worked there. Those are compact ranches and two-stories with gas furnaces, original ductwork and retrofitted central air, and they show the standard Miami Valley pattern of undersized returns. About 63 percent of occupied Miamisburg homes heat with utility gas and about 34 percent with electricity.
The newer housing toward Austin Boulevard and the county line was built with matched systems and tighter envelopes, and its equipment is now at the age where first replacements begin. Builder-grade oversizing is common there, and the right-sizing conversation at estimate time usually ends with a smaller, quieter system that handles summer humidity better.
Repairs are diagnosed by measurement, with a heat exchanger and combustion check on every gas furnace visit. Replacement estimates are free and include a Manual J load calculation for the house as it is now, with furnace, AC, heat pump and dual-fuel options compared side by side.
HVAC permits are pulled through the building office with jurisdiction and included in the quote where required. Call the local line or send the form and we will arrange a visit.
